爱看美剧的宝宝们，应该经常听到good for you这句话吧？这句话虽然短，单词也很简单，基本上很多小学生都认识。但是它真正的意思，很多人都理解错了，它其实可以表达很多

含义，并不是我们想当然的、字面上的“为你好”。

当表示正面意思时，good for you可以理解成：恭喜你 Congratulations！你太棒了Good job！真为你高兴Happy for you! So glad to hear that!这是你应得的You deserve it！

Good for you也可以表达负面的意思，即对别人的敷衍和讽刺。例如：You really want to try? OK, good for you!你真的想尝试吗？好吧，祝你好运吧！（潜台词：你肯定会失败）

所以，对于good for you的理解，你需要根据上下文和语境联系。那如果要表达“为你好”，又该如何说呢？我们可以用：for your own good。为了某人好，就可以用：for one’s own good。
I did it for his own good. 我这么做是为了他好。

good这个词我们从小学的时候就学会了，但是下面这些与good有关的短语，可能还有很多人不知道具体是什么意义，今天一起来学一下吧。

1、to the good

表示对大多数人有利的，有益于多数人，普遍有好处的。
If these measures also reduce unemployment, that is all to the good. 要是这些措施也能降低失业率，那就不失为好事。

2、in sb’s good/bad books
  If you are in someone’s good/bad books, they are pleased/not pleased with you. 表示为…所喜欢／厌恶。I cleaned the bathroom yesterday so I’m in Mum’s good books.我昨天打扫了洗手间，所以妈妈现在对我很满意。

3、be in good shape

to be prepared and ready to do something，准备妥当，整装待发。All our bags are packed, and we don’t have to leave for another hour, so we’re in good shape.我们所有的行李都收拾好了，一个小时后才出发，完全准备妥当了。

1. be in good company
   to have the same problem as many other people，（有同样问题的）大有人在。
   -I can’t play tennis. I’m hopeless at it!

-Oh well, you’re in good company.

-我不会打网球。我对网球一窍不通！

-噢，是吗，像你这样的大有人在。”
